According to Dutch newspaper published by the NOS in today's conference NASA claim that he discovered a completely new life form that does not share the biological construction of anything like that on Earth.
According to information, it is a bacteria whose DNA is completely different, based on arsenic, rather than the components that we know. On our planet, life is made of six elements: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur. Every living thing shares the same chain.
This bacterium was discovered by scientists, however, is completely different. Interestingly it was discovered in a lake filled with poisonous arsenic in California, called Mono Lake - And not in outer space. Still, this discovery change the way we approach the biology and life, contributing to research and search for life on other planets, which will not necessarily be as we knew so far on Earth.
The research was led by geobiologist Felisa Wolfe-Simon, who has studied the life on Lake California long because of its strange features. So far, only had found ways of life of the lake using arsenic in its processes to survive, not that they were "made" for this component. We'll have more details
